 | KCNPNM Past, Present and Future |
The Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives (KCNPNM), is a vibrant and effective professional organization formed in 1987, whose primary mission is to assist Advanced Practice Nurses in the delivery of quality, accessible, and affordable health care. One of the ways the Coalition fulfills this mission is through the delivery of outstanding continuing education offerings. The cornerstone of the continuing education offerings is the sponsorship of an annual educational conference, Toward Excellence in Primary Care, in April of each year. The Kentucky conference presents regional and national speakers and attracts Advanced Practice Nurses from both Kentucky and across the United States.
KCNPNM seeks to promote a legislative agenda which improves the quality, safety and access to health care, and furthers the professions of Advanced Practice Nurses in Kentucky. KCNPNM is actively involved in monitoring and/or sponsoring legislation which advances our missions.
KCNPNM also works toward increasing the public awareness of nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and clinical nurse specialists as well as promoting communication among Advanced Practice Nurses and offer APNs and potential employers a venue to explore opportunities for employment.
The Objectives of KCNPNM 1. To provide a continuing education forum, including an annual conference, for members and other ARNPs.
2. To initiate and support legislation, and other pertinent issues, affecting ARNPs’ roles, education and practice.
3. To establish a data bank and recruitment service of employment options for nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and employers.
4. To promote public recognition of ARNP practice.
5. To facilitate collaboration between ARNPs and other health care professionals for the improvement of health care in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
6. To encourage and support research related to ARNPs and the delivery of health care services.
