Cold weather is coming with its colds and flu season at our doorsteps. I am sure many of you practicing in primary or urgent care settings have already experienced its impact this year. Cases of acute respiratory issues with a mixture of viral and bacterial respiratory tract infections are prevalent. I have attempted to estimate or measure the effectiveness of prescribing antibiotics in outpatient areas. I have used several different strategies involving delayed antibiotic prescriptions for acute respiratory infections RTI's. The results and findings of my Evidence-Based-Practice (EBP) Quality Improvement DNP Project is presented for review at the following website:

I hope that my results and findings will be helpful in prescribing appropriate antibiotics for limited RTI's.  Also, I hope this will help address patient expectations and practitioners outcomes using antibiotics for colds and flu this season.

Kindest Regards,

Nina Nguyen, DNP, FNP-C
