2.  Review current treatment options for chronic pain

           65 minutes-Section VI

3.  Discuss the updated CDC guidelines for appropriate use of opioids

          30 minutes-Section VII

4.  Discuss treatment guidelines or protocols for chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and COPD.

         75 minutes-Section II

5.  Review the impact of drug-drug interactions on medication choices.

        30 minutes-Section I

6.  Evaluate the role of the Beer’s Criteria in the treatment of chronic disease in elderly patients.

        45 minutes-Section III and IV

III. Beer’s Criteria-25 minutes

IV.   Treatment of Chronic Disease in the Elderly-20 minutes

V.     Overview of Chronic Pain-20 minutes

VI.   Review of Medication Classes for Chronic Pain Treatment-65 minutes

a.       Opiates

b.       Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents

c.       Other Adjunctive Medications

VII.  CDC Guidelines for Appropriate Use of Opioids-30 minutes

 

VIII.  Questions-5 minutes

 

HB1 should be met through Section V, VI, and VII

Total program 270 minutes which equals 5.4 KBN contact hours, of which 5.4* is pharmacology
*Of these hours, 1.5 counts towards the KBN HB1 requirement

This program is targeted at APRNs and there are no prerequisites for attendance

Refund Policy: Refund requests must be made in writing to admin@kcnpnm.org. Full refunds will be given for written cancellation requests on or before 14 days prior to program. No refunds 13 days prior to event. You may change to same event at another venue/date if space is available or take “store” credit for future events. You may also transfer your credit balance to another member provided their information is included in the cancellation request.
Event Cancellation: In the event KCNPNM should find it necessary to cancel or postpone an event for any reason then KCNPNM’s liability shall be limited to refund of registration fees paid to KCNPNM.
