Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the various treatment options for heart failure.
  2. Describe the differences in treatment approach for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) versus patients with heart with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
  3. Review the latest treatment guidelines for heart failure.

  • Costs of $37 billion/year 
  • More costly than all forms of cancer combined
