Coalition? Association? A little of this, a little of that

The Coalition has formed a new Kentucky nonprofit corporation - the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-Midwives, Inc.  The activities of the Coalition and the Association will be separate, but the two organizations will be tightly connected by virtue of the fact the Coalition will appoint, and can remove, the board of directors of the Association.

The Association can conduct certain activities, in type or magnitude, that the Coalition cannot, which expands the reach and strength of the organization as it was formed 30 years ago.  This will help with our effort to move toward Full Practice Authority for the APRNs of Kentucky. It is also the better vehicle for promoting the APRN profession and increasing its visibility in the Commonwealth. This change strengthens the Coalition through its common mission with the Association and allows the “system” to move into new areas.

Finally, by virtue of being a member of the Coalition, one will automatically be a member of the Association.  There is no additional cost nor another membership or login to keep track of.
